Nocturne

For the artist, daytime consciousness represents the field of the known and the managed self, while night becomes a symbolic entry into the unconscious. What is suppressed, avoided, or left unresolved within the flow of daily life begins to surface when daylight fades.

Night is not the absence of light, but a condition of exposure, where what is ignored during the day becomes unavoidable. Within this body of work, darkness operates as a revealing force rather than concealment. In the absence of visual clarity, perception becomes more inward. Figures, spaces, and fragmented environments emerge through layered oil painting, digital intervention, and photographic references, forming a hybrid visual field where reality and perception continuously overlap.

Artificial light interrupts this darkness, appearing as streetlights, urban glow, and digital illumination. These elements do not simply describe an urban atmosphere, but point to a transformed perceptual condition in which the boundary between physical space and digital experience becomes increasingly unstable. The city shifts between external landscape and internal projection.

In this context, light functions as a fragile form of awareness. It does not erase shadow, but exists within it, suggesting that clarity and uncertainty are not separate states. What appears in darkness is not resolution, but recognition.

At its core, Nocturne reflects on endurance within emotional ambiguity, the ability to remain present within one's own shadow and to hold onto a quiet form of hope without escaping it.
